Home Wind Turbines Are on the Rise
Africa to Hollywood, interest in home wind turbines is at an all time high. Oil markets controlled by cartels and foreign interests continue to cause major concerns worldwide. As oil prices get higher, electricity rates follow suit. But recent trends have shown that while crude oil prices will rise and fall, electricity rates tend to remain at high levels. Renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power cannot be controlled or dominated by governments or corporations. Unlike oil, energy from the sun and wind are not in short supply. Wind turbines use the same basic methods that have been known to work for this past century. Part of the reason why wind turbines cost so much less now is because they don use any expensive new technology. That goes to show if you stick with the classics eventually you get the great pay off. So what are the other reasons for the pay off? Why do wind turbines cost so little? Notice that the ones you build yourself cost very little if done right, but the factory built ones cost thousands of dollars (and they really shouldn ). Building a wind turbine is getting the parts and putting them together; if you can get good parts for cheap and put it together for cheap, then youe looking at a great cheap wind turbine. Once erected, wind turbines are amazingly efficient in a larger sense - they generate power from a natural, eco-friendly renewable resource, without the hidden social or environmental penalties that we incur with the use of fossil fuels - theres no need to mine for fuel or to transport it - there are no global warming pollutants created, and no need to store, process, or to dispose of toxic wastes. At the small side of the scale, turbines can be as tiny as 5 feet in diameter and are capable of only a few hundred watts.
