Catching Up With Online Business

Poetry to make you smile at stupidy rampant at present.

Utopia.

My motorway is crumbling,
With an enforced fifty limit,
and what is even more humbling,
Is there are speed traps in it,
Still I use the extra petrol,
Paying more tax as a result,
Vainly seeking for a reason,
Behind the latest congestion fault,
Taking solace from my car,
As it could have been the train,
Better to just be delayed,
Than never be seen again,
And stagger home as ever late,
To find a letter in the hall,
From a burglar who is suing me,
Over a dangerous interior wall,
That coupled with the TVs weight,
Caused serious damage to his spine,
So he cant get out now to burgle,
And its not his fault its mine,
At least he hasnt claimed at all
Loss of earnings to be backdated,
But before I reply to him,
I have to have it all translated,
As he is not from these shores,
But just resident for a while,
So as they wont deport him,
I have to pay up and smile,
Luckily I may also pay myself,
From what I have been reading,
As as a victim of a burglary,
Im entitled to money from my speeding,
When caught recently at midnight,
Doing twenty in a fifteen zone,
Coming up my private driveway,
TO the entrance of my home.

Air Ventilation For Protecting Against Leaky Basements

An average family of four creates between two and four gallons of moisture per day through cooking, cleaning, showering, and breathing. Some of this moisture finds its way to the cooler, drier surfaces.

If the attic is not properly vented, the moisture can condense as water or frost inside the attic when it hits the cooler attic surfaces. As a result, mold, wood rot, and poor air quality can form. These are all problems that ultimately cost the homeowner in terms of money and health as well.

Installing a proper venitilation system is a measure that will stave off this condition and pay for itself, helping to keep your family healthy and your property valuable.

Home ventilation is a system of components. It is more than just blowing air through the home. It involves a process that yeilds steady, high volume movement. It provides the right amount of both intake and exhaust. A properly vented system includes vents at the peak of the roof and a good deal of airflow from the soffits. Always balance the attic ventilation system with 50% of the required air high on the roof for exhaust and 50% of the required ventilation low on the roof for intake. This allows the system to be balanced in terms of cool dry air entering and moist air exiting.

A home that retains excess moisture will develop problems such as wood rot, basement mold, basement seepage and poor air quality in basements and crawlspaces. It is important to retain an experienced basement waterproofing contractor to fix these issues.

Silent Singing Trees

“Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree.” –Joyce Kilmer

The song of the tree is silence. A tree is like a microphone set to the lips of nature. It amplifies the deep, rich quiet of peace. I invite you to listen to the silent song that the tree sings. Once you open, its song
draws your voice to it. It enfolds your conversations in its natural tones and your relationships become
soothed by its presence. The delicate and melodious silence softens your interactions. The power and
vigor of the tree supports your inner alignment. It boosts your confidence and reminds you of what you
love.
In order to sense the song of a tree, first open to the notion that the tree is really singing. As you realize
that the tree offers a strong vital vibration that modulates over time, you can understand this as a song.

Once you feel comfortable with this notion, understand that this is a song you will not hear with your
ears. Consider the possibility that you are completely capable of sensing this song as a feeling. Enter into
the possibility that the preset relationship between human beings and trees includes a sensitivity to each
other’s songs. Research has shown that plants respond to our offering of conversation and prayer. Of
course this is not a one-way street. We also respond to their message, which comes to us subtly through
their silent song.

Choirs of Trees

If you bring yourself into a receptive state of being, you can sense the very personal silence offered by any
tree. It is a gift to you from the tree. It is a natural and vigorous silence. It nourishes. It heals. It is alive.
In a forest or on a city street, you will find a choir of trees each expressing its own silent hum into the
magnificent chorus. Each tree pulses with its own rhythm and solos in its own voice.

Singing Along

You can sing with the trees. It doesn’t matter whether or not you think you are a good singer. When you sing silently you allow the hum of your inner nature to emanate from within you. When you let your
inner nature sing along with a tree you are amplifying your own nature and you are also harmonizing
your expression with another beautiful, natural silence. When you sing like a tree your voice is heard in
beneficial ways.

Low Silence

The roots of the tree offer low silence, deep bass silence. As you walk through your neighborhood, pause
at the roots of a well established tree. Listen to the silence. Let your inner silence sing with the deep tones
of the tree’s roots. This harmony helps ground you. It roots you within yourself.

High Silence

The high branches sing in a different tone. Their silence vibrates like a reed to the air passing through it.
Bring your song into harmonious relationship with the tall branches. This song uplifts you as you align
with it.

Silent Singing People

Once you have opened to the notion of trees singing and once you have listened and sung along, you may
want to take the next step.

If you and a friend both enjoy silently singing with trees, you may want to try doing this with each other.
You can both sit or stand and silently emanate with an intention to harmonize with the other’s silence.
Singing together like trees deepens your relationship with each other and prepares you to be able to do
this with more and more of the people (and trees) in your life. As you move through your day, you can
become increasingly tuned in to your own silent song and the silent songs of others. You can begin to
harmonize your silence with those around you. People may notice how good it feels to be around you.

By silently singing, you bring a conscious intention to your vibrational emanation. Your inner tone, which
at times may be noisy and haphazard, can become harmonious and pleasurable. This is the joy of
understanding your own silence as an inaudible song.
By listening to the silent song of the trees you train yourself into beauty. By listening to the silent song of
people, you move yourself toward loving relationships. By learning to sing along with the silence of
others, you enter an arena of sweet, sweet music that will never be heard by the ears, but will be felt and
appreciated by the hearts of the trees and the people in your life.

Chicken Little Entrepreneurs

Chicken Little is hurrying
Umbrella ‘neath her wing.

She thinks the sky is falling fast
So goes to tell the King.

But, after she has spread the news
And all is told and said

The good old King just laughs at her
And sends her home instead.

That is a very wise old King and I’d love him in charge now.

Technology vendors think they can save the world and they
are using terrorism to sell snake oil to government and
industry. Acting like Chicken Little, they run to
government with a technology based “solution” to terror.
But somehow our King, anxious to appear to be doing
something about terrorism, agrees that the sky is falling
and buys her tech toys instead of laughing and sending
Chicken Little home.

The following is a quote from a Wharton School of
Business, University of Pennsylvania interview with Tom
Siebel of Siebel Systems, a manufacturer of CRM (Customer
Relationship Management) software for big business.

“Tom Siebel has been attacked for his proposal to use
Siebel software to sniff out terrorist plots. In February,
Siebel told a Congressional committee that a specially
tailored Siebel system might have deterred the Sept. 11 attacks.

“Security agencies can use this technology to maintain a
‘logically’ centralized - although physically disparate -
consolidated view of terrorist-related information
gathered from multiple sources and channels and make this
information immediately accessible to authorized personnel
in the homeland security network,” Siebel testified. “This
is not an opportunistic capitalization of tragic events.
This is a combined effort between the U.S. government and
private enterprise to avoid a repeat of September 11th.”

He added that since November of last year, various
government and non-profit agencies have purchased the
Siebel Homeland Security product to anticipate, track,
prevent, and respond to national security threats.”

http://makeashorterlink.com/?T59025701
(Free membership required to read, check the privacy policy.)

Siebel Homeland Security product? Wow! Can I get a copy
for my laptop and another for my PDA? Must be a hot selling
item, and it’s working like a charm, too. I wonder why it’s
not available worldwide, since it IS so effective? It seems
that between Larry Ellison and his National ID database and
Tom Siebel’s Homeland Security product we’ve got the
problem of terrorism licked. But wait, it seems that the
hardware guys want a piece of the snake oil action.

“If we had advanced (technology) tools in place prior to
Sept. 11, it is almost certain that some of the terrorists
would have been detained and possibly some of the plots
would have been foiled,” said a report from Progressive
Policy Institute, a Washington research center associated
with the Clinton-Gore administration.

A story at NewsFactor.com points out that new tech spy
gear is being hawked to the government at unimaginable
rates.

http://www.newsfactor.com/perl/story/17942.html

“With some exaggeration, Transportation Secretary
Norman Mineta, whose department is responsible for
airport safety, told the Senate Appropriations Committee
earlier this month: “We’ve got every salesman - 20,000
of them, I think - approaching us about how they’ve got
some machine that will take care of everything we do,
including not only detecting explosives but athlete’s foot
as well.”

That snake oil is pretty slippery guys. Software powering
advanced hardware is impressive, but not magical. Where
is the wolf to chase off these high tech chickens? It
seems that we’ve got a children’s story being rewritten in
Washington, D.C. The remake of “Chicken Little” has 20,000
high tech Chicken’s selling overpriced umbrellas to the
King — and apparently he’s buying.

Chicken Little is hurrying
Database ‘neath her wing.

She knows the sky is falling fast
So goes to sell the King.

Now, after she has sold the cure
And all is told and said

The good old King smiles sweet at her
And takes her in to bed.

The huge new homeland security proposal by President
Bush will employ over 169,000 people and incorporate
all or part of dozens of existing federal agencies.

No doubt it will have a vast database incorporating
Larry Ellison’s suggested National ID software, and
will be powered by Siebel’s Homeland Security Product.
Surely there will be lots of iris scanning, finger-
print reading, face recognizing, smart card reading,
body scanning, security cameras and superduper tech-
nology feeding all that data into the centralized
database where Big Brother comes to life, finally.

What the heck, I may as well get into the act. “Oh King!
I have a Homeland Security Bridge I’d like to sell you.”

This baby has a built in database of every vehicle on the
road and computerized steel gates that slam shut when
terrorists attempt to cross over. We’ll know because all
car rentals and sales will require purchasers to state
whether they’ve got evil intent. That will be entered into
our bridge database along with predictive behavior
modeling, just like that used by the airports now. You’ll
need one at every border crossing point. Buy the hardware
at $3 Billion each and I’ll DONATE the software ’cause I’m
a Patriot, just like Larry Ellison!”

Your Friendly Neighborhood Database

For the lay person, the term database is just another geek word
that is just so prevalent in today’s society. From the office,
to the home, and to just about any industry, people refer to
their information as being kept in a ‘database’.

So somehow, we all get this idea that the database is some
cabinet that holds all the data for a given organization.

But what is a database, anyway?

A database is any collection of data organized for storage in a
computer memory and designed for easy access by authorized
users. The data may be in the form of text, numbers, dates, or
encoded graphics.

Since databases made their debut 1950s, they have become
mightily important in the everyday operations of every major and
even minor industry.

Databases make the output of needed data and reports easy,
convenient, and almost instantaneous. This is a far cry from the
‘barbaric’ methods once employed by every industry.

Those outdated methods included collating data from paper files
whenever a report was needed. That process wasted a lot of time
and effort. With the help of databases, these manual methods
quickly found their demise.

Small databases were first developed or funded by the U.S.
government for agency or professional use. But in the 1960s,
databases became commercially available to the public.

However, their use was channeled through a few so-called
research centers that collected information inquiries and
performed them in batches. Online databases–that is, databases
available to anyone who could link up to them by computer–first
appeared in the 1970’s.

Computer programs that manage and query a database are known as
database management systems (DBMS). Database systems are
actively studied in information science.

The overriding concept of databases is the idea of a collection
of facts, or pieces of information. Databases may be structured
in a number of ways, known as database models. Database Models
Flat Model

The flat (or table) model consists of a single, two-dimensional
array of data elements. All members of a given column are
assumed to be similar values, and all members of a row are
assumed to be related to one another. For instance, columns for
name and password might be used as a part of a system security
database.

Each row would have the specific password associated with a
specific user. Columns of the table often have a type associated
with them, defining them as character data, date or time
information, integers, or floating point numbers.

This model is the basis spreadsheet systems such as Lotus 123 or
Microsoft Excel. However, these applications are not typically
thought of as databases per se.

Network Model

The network model allows multiple datasets to be used together
through the use of pointers (or references). Some columns
contain pointers to different tables instead of data. Many major
industries adopted this model in the past few decades.

Relational Model

The relational model is the most popular of the database models
today. This model is the basis for such database systems as
Oracle, mySQL, and even Microsoft Access.

In this model, logically related data is kept in tables not
unlike the flat model. However, unlike the network model in
which tables are connected via pointers, the relational model is
interconnected using keys or values within data rows in tables
that point to other tables.

The SQL or Structured Query Language is used to manipulate and
derive data from such databases.

Revitalize your Interior Walls

Most people would like to revitalize their interior walls with
some colorful paint, but are too afraid to make the leap from
off-white or beige. The homeowner is afraid that a daring color
choice may not match their furniture, will be too bright, and
have a host of other reasons.

Painting your walls is a basic element of design and can enhance
any room for only $50. Your furniture and artwork can take on a
new look with a designer flare just by painting your walls.

So, the first question you may ask is how do I choose the right
color? Below are some recommendations to help you choose.

The first recommendation is to choose a tinted neutral. Instead
of choosing rich, deep colors for your first project, you will
likely feel more comfortable with a neutral color such as beige
or gray and thus will not date the room or create a jarring
palate that you will easily tire of.

At your local home improvement store, you will be faced with a
sea of color swatches - hundreds of versions of basic beige and
gray to choose from. So before you visit your local paint store,
consider these steps in choosing the right color for you.

If you like the feel of a warm and cozy room - think of
fireplaces, brown leather and sunsets - then you’ll want to
start with a beige tone.

Now, consider your furniture and accessories. What colors do you
see? If you have a lot of black or navy, you may wish to choose
beige with orange or pink undertones to keep the look warm. If
you have browns or reds in your furniture, select cooler beige
with ashy tones to avoid ‘overheating’ your room.

If you prefer a cooler, airy look - chrome, glass, and shades of
icy blue - then select gray tones. Some stores will have a ‘true
gray’ color swatch which you can use to compare with their
designer selections. On comparison, you will notice that each
gray has undertones. Some will have blue or lavender tones;
others may have green or even a hint of pink.

Using the same guide as stated above, identify the main colors
of furniture and accessories in the room. Use green or pink
toned grey with cool toned furnishings to avoid it from feeling
like an icebox. Use blue or lavender undertones in rooms with
warmer colored furnishings.

If you undecided between beige and gray, than the easiest color
to work with is green. Keeping it in a muted tone will make it
very easy to live with, and will work with most color palates.

Painting your rooms with color will bring a finishing designer
touch to your home.

Cake Decorating Ideas for Fantastic Looking Cakes

You don’t have to be an expert cake decorator in order to make fantastic looking birthday cakes. Here are some cake decorating ideas to help you to make your cakes extra special that do not require exceptional cake decorating skills.

First, determine a theme for your cake. If the cake is for an adult, what are the likes, hobbies or interests of the birthday person? For example, if the person likes to fish, make a fishing theme cake. If the person likes to golf, make a golf theme cake. If they like to play the guitar, make a guitar cake.

You could also make the cake theme match their profession as well. For example, for a mail carrier make a mail theme cake or for a carpenter, make a carpenter theme cake.

If you are making a cake for a child, have it match the theme of the party or the child’s favorite character, interest or even sport.

You get the idea, just try to make the cake extra special for the birthday person by making it match their hobbies or interests.

A really easy cake decorating idea for making these theme cakes is to purchase cake toppers that match your theme to place on top of your cake. These come in many different varieties. However, if you happen to want to make a certain theme cake for which you cannot find a cake topper to match, try the miniature section of any hobby or craft store.

For the examples above, you can purchase things such as a miniature fishing rod and net for the fishing cake, a miniature golf bag and golf clubs for the golf theme cake and a miniature guitar for the guitar cake. You can then place them on top of your cake. For a mail theme cake, purchase miniature mail boxes and make little letters out of card stock that you laminate and place them on the top and sides of your cake. For the carpenter theme cake, put miniature saws and other tools on the top of or on the sides of the cake.

These are just a few examples. The ideas really are endless, but hopefully this has helped to get you started thinking of different and unique cake decorating ideas that will make the next cake that you make extra special.

Cristy Smith is co-creator of a birthday cake decorating website that is packed full of creative and fantastic looking cakes and explains how each one was made. Visit http://www.easy-birthday-cakes.com for lots of great cake decorating ideas that adults and children will love.

How and Where To Get Big Real Estate Loans Today

SOME OF THE BIGGEST REAL ESTATE LOANS you can get today come from the FHA–Federal Housing Administration. These loans are often in the range of $500,000 to multi-millions. Why are they available to you? For several reasons:

1. The Government wants to encourage certain types of building construction or repair.

2. Such as multi-family housing, nursing homes, and retirement homes that benefit large groups of people

3. To do this, big loans are made available to developers, prospective building owners, and other real estate people

4. Helping society get the types of buildings needed for healthy living the Government seeks for every citizen

THERE ARE SEVERAL AGENCIES offering loans today through FHA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. These loans are for:

* New construction to buildings listed above

* Purchase of existing buildings of the types listed

* Refinancing of existing multi-family housing (apartment houses), existing nursing homes, and retirement homes

THESE LOANS ARE REALLY GREAT because they have so many advantages for you–the borrower. These advantages include:

* Non-recouse–this means the lender does not have any right to sieze your other assets if the loan goes bad

* Long-term–30to 40 years for repayment of your loan; this means that your monthly payments are lower

* Fixed interest rate–meaning that your monthly payments for principal and interest (called P & I) are constant–they do not increase no matter what happens to interset rates

* Low equity needed–meaning that your down payments much lower than with other types of financing–such as from bank or mortgage company loans

WHERE CAN YOU GET ONE OF THESE LOANS? You can get your loan through any one of the agencies listed above that handles the type of loan you seek. Here are the loans, their agency, and their phone number:

* For multi-family housing, use the Freddie Mac 221(d)4 Multifamily Housing Program, and the 223(f) Refinancing and Rehabilitation Program, and the Freddie Mac DUS Program. Call 1-800-688-9889 for the nearest office.

* For retairement centers, use the Retairement Center 231 coinsurance Program for proposed facilities and the 223(f) coinsurance Program for existing facilities. Call the above general information number for the nearest office.

* For nursing homes, use the Nursing Home and 232 Board and Care Mortgage Programs for such facilities. Call the number above for more information from your local office.

ALONG WITH THESE GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS, there are others which offer real opportunities for you to take over an income property with a low down payment. These include:

* Below-market interest rates available through participating mortgage for you

* Tax-exempt financing with lower floating interest rates to keep your costs down. Call the numbers given above for free information.

How to Make a CSV file for your mailing list.

First lets look at WHAT it is, and Why would we want to make one?

CSV means Comma Separated Value, so that means; a ‘value’ that is separated by commas. It is usually made in XL or a txt file.

A ‘value’ is explained, in context below.

CSV files are the most common kind of format used by most software programs for importing data. This means that if we want to put several hundred names and addresses (values) into a “bulk mailing program” we can usually use a CSV file.

The CSV file would have to have all the names and addresses in it, and then we could go to our software program and use the ‘import’ function to upload all the names and addresses (values), with one click instead of spending hours entering each one by hand.

But, how do we get the names and addresses into the CSV file in the first place? It depends where they come from, if we are simply extracting the names and addresses (Values) from one program to another we can often choose to ‘export’ to a file in CSV format. If we have a list of ‘values’ that is, say, in Microsoft word, or some other kind of document, we would first need to copy and paste them into an XL document.

Once all the ‘values’ we want to use, are pasted into the XL document, WITH EACH VALUE IN A SEPARATE COLUMN. We can then save the XL document as a CSV file, and then upload it into our software. Easy!

Before we continue please note: It is often necessary to have these values in our CSV file in a particular order for example; some software, will require Column ‘A’ to have the ‘Name’ and column ‘B’ might have to be the ‘eMail’ or vise versa and etc…. So it’s a good idea to check first.

Some software allows us to choose where each ‘value’ will be loaded to, so in this case, the initial order in our CSV file won’t matter, because in the upload process we may be prompted to select which ‘fields to place which ‘values’ into.

Now, how to turn a XL document into a CSV file!
1. In your XL document with the info you wish to upload. Go to “file/save as” then select the option “as file type” and scroll down to “CSV (Comma Delimited)
2. Then name it “WHATEVERYOUWANT” and click save.
3. Now you will get a window asking a lot of questions.
4. Answer “OK” or “YES”, then you’ll get about two or three more windows one after the other. Answer each one “OK” or “YES”, until it is done then close the workbook. You’ll get more windows again. just answer “OK” and “YES” until it closes
5. Go to your software and find the import function, browse for your file and upload it!
6. Then check your “mailing List” to see the results!
Your CSV file will look like this a, if you saved it correctly!

If it doesn’t work for you, make sure it is in this format.

You may find that you need to play around with this a bit, but as long as you finish with an XL document in CSV format, you should be able to upload to just about any program. Of course this isn’t limited to email lists you can use this format for a range of different applications.

Organize a Home Team

Appoint a friend to pre-schedule a rotation of five to fifteen helpers

Even if you have very little time before your heart surgery, organize a Home Team before you go in. And if you are just home from the hospital, it’s not too late. Make a list of up to fifteen people, family and friends (but not your primary caregiver) who would be glad - even honored - to be called to help out. Pick a leader among these friends and engage her or him to contact the others about the tasks ahead. Set up a revolving schedule of assignments for your first three to four weeks at home.

A friend? Why not your caregiver?

Who will your primary caregiver be — your spouse, your partner, a friend, another family member? The scenario is this. Suddenly your caregiver, your close personal ally, has the extended responsibility for all previously shared arrangements - nursing aid, household tasks, transportation, medical and social plan coordination. This is why you line up a Home Team to pitch in. Your primary caregiver needs assistance and taking care of too. Once you are home and recovering, he or she is now “on” 24/7. He or she also needs continuing acknowledgment, appreciation and love from you. Plan to regularly express your gratitude. Find out how s/he is feeling - every day. Though sometimes you won’t feel like it, remember to smile, and show you care!

Five basic tasks to assign

1. Dinner nightly

Some friends will like to prepare a home cooked meal for both patient and caregiver, while others can pick up a heart healthy take-out meal. Since the reality of landing back home means the primary caregiver has antenna focused on you continuously, your caregiver loved one will appreciate the sit-down break at dinner time.

2. Buddy system

During the many hours and days of convalescence, neither patient nor primary caregiver wants to feel isolated at home. Anticipate a buddy system in advance. Is there a friend who has been though open heart surgery who will agree to check in with the patient regularly? Whom the heart patient can call spontaneously? Many smaller questions can be answered this way, by a friend or family member. Naturally, any substantial recovery question requires picking up the phone and calling your designated medical professional. Maybe you know, or know of, a former heart patient who also is a medical professional? Arrange chat times (perhaps twice weekly) with him or her. Primary caregiver and patient should also plan regular phone time with a best friend independently, to be free to let their hair down to tell it like it is!

3. Running errands

Who - friend or neighbor - would be willing to be counted on to run to the pharmacy? To deposit or pick up laundry or dry cleaning? To shop for staples at the supermarket? To buy a box of thank-you notes? Recruit a list of volunteers beforehand.

4. Housekeeping

In the hospital take-home instructions, there are very specific physical directives that must be honored while the sternum (breastbone) is healing. You are not to lift more than five to ten pounds for four to six weeks. As well, you are to avoid pushing/pulling activities with your arms, and also avoid heavy one-armed lifting for three months. This eliminates carrying groceries, carrying a toddler, vacuuming, shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, raking leaves - even wiping up a kitchen counter with a sponge can be challenging in the first couple of weeks. So best schedule others for regular housekeeping duties for at least four to six weeks and/or consider hiring a house cleaner for the short term.

5. Chauffeuring

An open heart patient may not resume driving for six to eight weeks - until the sternum is fully healed. Because you don’t want to risk re-injuring the sternum should a passenger airbag need to be deployed, you’ll be expected to ride in the back seat using the shoulder seat belt. That said, you can ride in a car as soon as you’re home - to a medical appointment, to the store, to eat out. However, all these outings become a lot of driving for the primary caregiver, so line up chauffeur volunteers!
